Treating dandruff

Dandruff is a type of scalp disease in which small while flakes appear on the scalp and the hair. There are mainly two types of dandruff, dry and greasy. The second one is a severe condition, which can damage the scalp because when mixed with sebum, it gives rise to itchiness. Too much itching sometimes leads to bleeding or oozing. Also it can give rise to bacterial infection caused by the nails to the scalp. If dandruff is neglected for a long period of time it sometimes causes baldness.  Some of the main causes of dandruff are excessive shedding of outermost cells, poor blood circulation, poor diet, improper hygiene, strong shampoo, excessive use of styling products, tight covering of the head etc. Following are some useful tips that will help you to get rid of dandruff:

  1. Gently massage your hair with warm oil twice a week to get rid of dandruff.
  2. Use herbal or medicated shampoos.
  3. Use Henna to control dandruff. This promotes hair growth and makes it soft and shiny.
  4. Use clean towels, combs, and pillowcases to avoid dandruff. The best option is after washing your hair, soak brushes and combs in a mug containing hot water and add a small quantity of antiseptic lotion in it.
  5. Use anti-dandruff lotions to rinse your hair after shampooing.
