As we age our hair start turning to shade of gray. This is a middle step before our hair finally turns into white. It occurs because in the initial days when the hair is not completely white they blend with the color of our natural hair and appear as a shade of gray. Our hair also turns white when the natural colour pigment stops producing in the hair follicles. This occurs because the pigment cells die due to aging.

Some people experience Grey hair at an early age. This is either hereditary or due to lack of proper vitamins in the diet. Besides this tension, severe illness, stress, shock, sorrows can also contribute towards graying of the hair. The two main symptoms that indicate that your hair may start becoming gray are dryness of the hair or heavy hair loss. Following are some of the tips that will help you in maintaining your gray hair:

  1. Add a solution of peroxide to your hair before coloring because gray hair may not hold the color like other hair types due to difference in texture and lack of pigments. The color often fades out after shampooing only a few times.
  2. You can try highlights on your gray hair as this makes them blend in better and gives a more natural look.
  3. Maintain a diet rich in protein, mineral and vitamins to keep your hair healthy.
  4. Use a shampoo & conditioner that suits your hair type.
  5. Massage your hair daily with your fingertips to stimulate blood circulation.
  6. Nourish your hair with Vitamin A and vitamin B as this promotes healthy scalp and keeps your hair moisturized.
