There are numerous causes of hair loss, some of them leads to complete baldness while some causes are temporary and cause temporary hair loss.

Hormonal Problems:

Both over active and underactive thyroid glands causes hair loss, the severity of hair loss vary from person to person and its severity of hormonal disorders. Besides improper activity of thyroids, imbalance of androgenic hormones does take part in hair loss. Androgenic hormones are male and female sex hormones. Imbalance of androgenic hormones directly affects hair follicles. Hair follicles are very susceptible to fluctuating hormones within the body. Therefore, hormonal imbalance is the biggest cause of hair loss.

Illness:

After 3 to 4 months of illness often leads to partial hair loss or hair thinning. The illness affect both your immune system and the disorder may be caused by improper dietary habits during illness. Therefore, lack of nutrition and other factors affecting during illness may cause hair loss. This type of hair loss is often temporary and hair regrow soon.

Menstruation and Pregnancy:

Hair loss due to irregular menstrual cycles and during pregnancy is temporary and can be treated or prevented by taking using natural herbs and healthy diet. Pregnancy and menstruation causes a great deal of hormonal imbalance. As mentioned above, hair follicles are susceptible to fluctuating levels of hormones, menstruation and pregnancy is the foremost cause of temporary hair loss in women.

Medicines May Cause Hair Loss:

Certain medicines may cause hair loss as they directly or indirectly affect your hair follicles, hormone levels and destroy or cause malfunctioning in the normal growth of cells. Some medicines destroy certain nutrients required for healthy growth.
